The Semantic Explanation of the Effects of Qawl from the Perspective of the Quran

Abstract

Semantic study of Quranic vocabulary is one of the new methods of research in the field of the holy Quran. In this method, to achieve the semantic network and seek some meaning layers of the verses, after selecting a certain group of words, the semantic fields and systematic communication of each word are investigated.
"Qawl "Speech" in the Koran covers a wide range of meanings the effects of which are one of the fields of this semantic network. Human speech is a part of his actions and it has various outcomes or effects for him. This research is an attempt towards achieving the effects of "speech" from the viewpoint of the Holy Quran by applying the semantic approach.
The present article explains the speeches of different groups and their subsequent effects seeking to elaborate the positive and negative consequences of speech in various levels of creation, legislation, material world, the next world and the heart of human being.
According to the Quran, speech has such high importance that it is recorded and written down giving its speaker the good deed, paradise and reward. It may also bring the deprivation of God’s mercy and His curse leading to sufferings and torture in the hell. The range of the effects of speech is to the extent that the heart of humans is affected by it and the good speech can pave the way for purification and communication of the heart. On the other hand, unworthy speech gives rise to impurity and sealing of the heart.
