A Criticism and Discussion Viewpoint of Orientalists about Personality of Zaid ibn Thabit

Abstract

Preparation of offical edition of Quran in the era of holy Prophet (pbuh), and after him is one of the basical subject that commonly muslim scientist and orientalist has paid attention to that. Between the scribe of revelation, Zayd ibn Thabit has a special role, to the extent that, recognizing his personality, has a decisive role in realising  the history of the early years of Islam and script of Quran.
Some of the orientalists try to confirm that Zayd was educated by Medina Jewish, so that they can relate the comprehensive culture of literating of people, scribe of revelation and collecting of Moshafs to the Jewish culture. In this way they also can relate the culture of valuating of knowledge in the era of holy Prophet to the Jewish. Michael Lecker is one of such orientalist that has so many articles in the subjects of script of revelation in the early years of Islam, and payid many attention to the situation of Zayd.    
In this Article after contributing Zayd ibn Thabit and his activities in the early years of Islam, the arguments of Lecker will be criticised and at the end some ambiguuities about Zayd will be disscused.
