Application of Figurative and Secondary Meanings of Imperative Verbs in Surah Yasin

Abstract

The language of the Holy Quran is a special and unique language on the basis of which the rules and structures of the Arabic language can be compiled. Numerous studies and researches conducted in relation to the special language of the Holy Qur'an show that one of the most important features of this special language is that in some cases it goes to figurative (secondary) meanings and the meaning of the theologian by expressing commands and dialects is other meanings than the primary meaning. And it has been constant. In this research, which was carried out with the method of library study and descriptive analysis, an attempt was made to study the meanings expressed for imperative verbs in Surah Mubarakah Yassin from the point of view of the commentators of the Holy Quran, in order to determine how much of these commands, the primary meaning and to what extent it sought to express secondary and figurative meanings. The research results show that imperative verbs in Surah Mubarakah Yasin have seventeen meanings, five of which are used in the main meaning and twelve in the figurative (secondary) meaning; Therefore, it can be said that about seventy percent of the meanings inferred by the commentators of the Holy Quran from imperative verbs were figurative meanings and not real meanings.
