Abstract

Hadith collections prevalent in the Muslim world such as Shiite and Sunni ones are to be criticized and analyzed due to their inclusion of authentic and inauthentic traditions. This criticism demands such patience and aspiration as deserves the spiritual heritage of the Holy prophet, Infallible Imams and their companions. Out of all Sunni collections of Hadith, a book achieving high fame and authenticity and recognized the best source and religious text next to the Quran by Sunni scholars is Sahih of Bukhari. Although this book deserves deep analysis and investigation, very few researchers have dared criticizing it. One of the important points worthy of study in Sahih of Bukhari is the criteria of the author in selecting authentic hadith. Kulayni is the first Shiite scholar undertaking the collection, arrangement and thematic classification of the Hadith of Ahl al Bayt in a vast collection titled "Al Kafi”.  Likewise, one of the significant points in studying al- Kafi is Kulaynis criteria in selecting authentic Hadith. Study of each one of these categories makes the readers more familiar with the process of the documentation of Hadith in the early Islamic centuries in the two Islamic schools of thought. On the other hand, comparing these books and stating the significant differences between them, we may find out the different ways each of them has followed in collecting and selecting Hadith.
