Abstract

We witness different views and practices concerning the way of referring to the Quran and deriving teachings from it, hence the existence of various methods and approaches. Although different factors have contributed to this diversity, one of the most important reasons is the difference in reliance of commentators on the position of the sources and sciences used in understanding the Quran. The present article studies the position of religious sources i.e. intellect and transmitted sciences as well as the role ofother sciences and the share of each of them in the deductions of the commentators from the perspective of AllamahTabatabai and AyatullahJavadiAmuli , the followers of the exegetical method of the Quran by the Quran. Attempting to find the right choice among the extreme views towards sources of interpretation is one of the principles of this view. According to this view the holy Quran is considered the principal source and the criterion for other sources. Although the whole of Quranic verses have a special role in understanding the Quran, and this book is not in need of any other source in revealing its intents, it is necessary to benefit from intellect and traditions in the process of reaching messages of religion ,on condition that  they are not conflicting with Quranic verses . Special emphasis on observing the position of each of these sources and the mechanisms necessary for reaching the messages of the Quran and Islam are among the most essential points regarded in this view.
