Abstract

Surahs of the Quran are a set of connected verses which have among themselves different types of lexical, grammatical, and logical relations. Although the Quran lays down various themes in its Surahs, all of the arguments are coherent through the connecting elements. Textual coherency is a division of the analysis of text and discourse. Since the traditional scholars’ attentions were directed to indicating the relations between verses, the study of coherency of Surahs of the Quran is a novel attitude in Quranic sciences.
In this article, through the application of Textual coherency method, coherency of verses in Surahs has been studied, and finally coherency among lines in Surahs has been proved.
