Abstract

Sheikh Saduq holds an obvious high status as a Shiitehadith authority, and the narratives he has compiled through his disciples from among different books of fiqh principles, have been considered as one of the most authoritative references for Imamite scholars throughout centuries.
Imam Mahdi’s ghaibat (Concealment) has been considered as a controversial issue among both Imamites and other Shiite sects, leading to some misgiving, a situation that urged Sheikh Saduq to deal with it in a separate book. The article first surveys the characteristic features of Sheikh Saduq’s time and place and his own status among other Imamite scholars.
Then there is an explanation of his main purpose in producing the mentioned work and its general features. There is also a reference to the trend of writing about Concealment among Imamite scholars and the validation of the extant copies related to that has been examined. Furthermore, the author’s specific method of writing his book and his use of references together with citations from his work by other Imamite writers have been analyzed.
Recognizing the credit given to the book among Imamite scholars illustrates the real significance and status of “Kamaloddin va Tamamolne’ma”.
